It was a whirlwind week for the Cutover team at AWS re:Invent. We collaborated on a migration workshop, participated in insightful sessions and discussions, and left feeling inspired by all the exciting innovations. While it’s hard to condense it to just a few, here are the highlights.
Immersive workshop: Large-scale migration and modernization
The week started with an immersive migration and modernization workshop led by AWS technical experts. AWS customers learned how to build Cutover runbooks to hyper automate processes and integrate multiple migration tools to improve performance and prevent longer cutover windows throughout the migration.
Large-scale migration and modernization initiatives often involve intricate complexities, such as integrating with multiple on-premises systems, using diverse toolsets, and coordinating numerous processes. Cutover migration specialists Anh Thieu and Saif Azmi supported AWS’ German Goncalves, Bala Mugunthan, and Nisarg Patel by providing tools and guidance to confidently navigate migration and modernization journeys.

Technical sessions on migration and modernization
One of the biggest highlights of the week was the ‘Completing a large-scale migration and modernization’ session. Ashish Shekhar of Danske Bank and AWS’ Oscar Rodriguez showcased the collaboration between Danske Bank and Cutover on stage to hundreds of attendees. They shared the journey to achieving hyper automation and top learnings. Watch a recording of the session here.

Our financial services customers also shared innovative ways they plan to use Cutover automated runbooks. They discussed expanding the use of Cutover Migrate from only rehost patterns to modernization. They also shared how Cutover automated runbooks support the orchestration of 100,000+ tasks through a master runbook structure. The master runbook includes pre-defined tasks for all application migrations, and then snippets are included to cover specific application or database requirements.
It’s always inspiring to hear how customers use our platform in new ways to drive greater efficiency.
Insightful discussions on major incident management
We always anticipate an abundance of great discussions at re:Invent, and this year did not disappoint. From one-on-one conversations with customers to technical discussions and roundtable events, we were inspired by innovative thinking, best practices, and product updates for cloud disaster recovery (DR) and migration.
We heard from both AWS and enterprises about the need to resolve major incidents more seamlessly. Cutover shared their newest offering, Cutover Respond, and how it helps enterprise teams resolve major incidents faster. With a shared incident workspace and integrations to tools like Zoom, MS Teams, Slack, and ServiceNow, Cutover Respond brings a streamlined approach to major incident management and reduces mean time to resolution (MTTR).
Executive roundtable events on resilience
Application resilience was also a major topic of conversation. Customers and AWS technical experts shared that they need accurate runbooks to execute cloud disaster recovery. Cutover and AWS collaborated to create Cutover Recover runbooks with AWS integrations like AWS Elastic Disaster Recovery (DRS) and Fault Injection Service (FIS).
Customers shared the need to access application data from sources like configuration management databases (CMDBs) during a live recovery. Cutover’s latest offering, Cutover Application Metastore, auto-generates application runbooks with accurate application data for thousands of applications in seconds. It was great to see the alignment between customer needs and our product offerings.
Networking opportunities with customers and partners
No technology conference is complete without networking opportunities, and this year’s agenda packed a punch. Sessions, individual meetings, strategic conversations, social events, and happy hours with customers and partners brought great energy throughout the week.
Cutover executives met with multiple AWS teams, including AWS Professional Services, AWS Migration and Modernization, Blu Age, Management and Governance, and premier partners, including PWC.
